What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a simple yet powerful modality for the body to release stress and tensions, safely process old traumas, heal physical ailments and chronic conditions, restore the mind-body connection, as well as gain transformational insights. By bringing us into a meditative, non-ordinary state, breathwork is also an incredible anchor for busy minds. It also helps us release stuck energy that keeps our nervous system in a state of threat and alert, so that we can access more of ourselves, reconnecting with the lightness and expansiveness of our bodies.

With breathwork we can access the wisdom in our bodies beyond our minds and breathe into a state where doubts, fears, old patterns, reactivity and societal programming fall away. The breath is a journey of releasing, stillness, rewriting your narrative, imagining new possibilities, remembering your essence and feeling our togetherness. Breathwork is journey back to ourselves.

How does it work?

Technique

Conscious Connected Breath

The main technique I use is the Conscious Connected Breath, which is when we breathe in a circular pattern with no interruptions between the inhale and the exhale. In my sessions I also combine a mix of breathwork techniques that inspire me, from ancient yogic pranayama to Tibetan Tummo breathing and more. My journeys are guided intuitively.

Safety

The importance of the container

What you get out of the breathwork journey will depend most importantly on the safety of the container. The energy of the facilitator, as well as how you feel with the people around you (if it is a group session). The safer you feel in your body, with your breath, and with your guide, the more you will be able to surrender to the experience and release.

Energetic Bodywork

Energy healing and bodywork

I use bodywork to facilitate emotional release. I work with the chakras, energy healing and fascia, inspired by Human Garage, the Neo-Emotional Release method, and trigger-point release.

Breath combined with touch is a potent combination for allowing the body to express what has been suppressed.

Things to know

Preparation and integration

If it is your first time, come with an open mind and no expectations. How much you get from the experience will depend also on proper preparation and integration. Do not eat too close to the session, and make sure you rest, ground and nourish your body afterwards. If difficult things come up to be worked through, get the support that you need.

Choosing a session

Private 1-1 session

Duration: 90 minutes

Available: Online & In-Person

A 1-1 session allows me to focus on you the entire time, meaning that I can guide the journey and intensity based on your specific needs and situation. This is a perfect choice for you if you want a profound release of known tensions and traumas stuck in the body, as I can do energy work and bodywork for just you throughout the whole duration. I will focus on the specific areas in the body that you want to clear. Energy healing works from a distance, so you can breathe in the comfort of your own home as I guide you online. However, bodywork can obviously only be done in-person. Some people prefer the privacy and depth of private sessions compared to group workshops.

“For the first time in so many years I was able to cry without blocking the tears in any way. I had incredible stress releases from my body and the best of all... with her help I was able to experience an immense amount of love for myself. Her knowledge about the body, nervous system and stress is amazing."

Session
  • Who is breathwork for?
Breathwork is truly for everyone. If you are looking to release stress and tensions, connect with yourself, get out of your head and into your body, find clarity, build self-Love, then you'll enjoy breathwork. Breathwork is for people who are curious to explore themselves.
  • Are there any contraindications?
Some contradictions to more intense breathwork are respiratory conditions, high or abnormal blood pressure, epilepsy, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, recent surgery, detached retina, pregnancy, psychiatric conditions like paranoia, severe anxiety and schizophrenia/bipolar. Any medical conditions should be discussed with a doctor prior to participating. However, you are in control of your own body, mind and health and it is your decision how far you take your breathwork and breath holds. You always have the ability to slow down and take a lighter version in class and still experience the same effects. If you have any concerns, you can speak to me and I'm happy to answer all the questions you have. I am not a medical professional and therefore by participating in a breathwork session, you are taking full responsibility for your own wellbeing.
  • What can I expect during the session?
In breathwork you may experience an array of things, including: Being lightheaded Visuals Dry mouth Tingling sensations in the body Cramping in the hands and feet (Tetany) Nausea Emotional release Somatic release Every session is different, and the experience varies from person to person. Trust that your body will give you exactly what you need in that moment.
  • How does breathwork heal trauma?
I focus my sessions around emotional, trauma and tension release. We all carry 'traumas', whether they are big or small. They can be childhood wounds, or simple daily stressors that leave us in a state of stress or vigilance. Breathwork allows us to tap into the natural healing capacity of the body and safely finish the 'processing' of events we experienced as traumatic. Breathwork is an incredible form of emotional hygiene that can allow us to bring deeper presence, aliveness and non-reactivity into our lives. Through breathwork, we cultivate the capacity to be the observor of our own experience, watching our own bodily sensations (emotions and energy) rise and move through. Breathwork is a spiritual practice of returning to ourselves, the truth, stillness, trust and perspective. The more we practice, the more we can stay connected to this space of oneness, peace and harmony. This allows us to act from our Higher Self state, rather than our wounding.
